Does taping work for plantar heel pain? A new clinical prediction rule

A brand new paper has just been published that provides a strong drill down on what outcomes we might expect from taping protocols for plantar heel pain.

Development of a clinical prediction rule to identify patients with plantar heel pain likely to benefit from biomechanical anti-pronation taping: A prospective cohort study, Wu et al, Physical Therapy in Sport, Volume 31, May 2018, Pages 58-67

I REALLY like this, because it might just give some reliably sign posts with regards treatment protocols post taping.

The highlights from this study include:

  • A clinical prediction rule to predict treatment response from taping is developed.
  • Six predictors of success with taping for plantar heel pain were identified.
  • Presence of favorable attributes increased the probability of a successful outcome.
