Tibialis Posterior Injuries Part 1

Injuries to the muscle of tibialis posterior and its attendant tendon are common across a broad age range of sport.


Injury to the tendon may be complicated by inflammatory joint disease, especially rheumatoid arthritis in older patients, and pain along the course of the tibialis posterior tendon may be the result of tendinopathy and paratendonitis, partial rupture, complete rupture, compartment syndrome, and the presence of an accessory ossicle.
