Will springy soled shoes really give you a boost?

Hard on the heels of adidas and BOOST, pretty much every major manufacturer has jumped on the "energy return" bandwagon and produced running shoes that claim to offer improved rebound.

So it was with great interest that I read an article a couple of days ago entitled:

Beware the hype – springy soles won’t make you run much faster

It is really well written, so take the time to read it, but it really piqued my interest, given my involvement with running shoe development over the past 30 odd years, and my absolute certainty that there is a LOT more to building performance based running shoes than a focus on rebound.

More on that in a moment, but first, let's take a look at some of the more salient points from the article.
